OUR STORY

For Greg and Pat White , the husband-and-wife founders of Wisdom Pumps, their first date was a foreshadowing of sorts. The two were introduced through Pat’s sister. Their first unofficial date, back in 1992, included going on a pump delivery run. “That’s how we met,” Pat said. “We delivered a pump in Smiley, TX.”

The Whites’ story – going from delivering pumps to owning Wisdom Pumps – is a testimony to their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. After four years as a pump delivery driver, Pat and one of Greg’s co-workers persuaded him to consider transitioning from delivery to sales. The move paid instant dividends.

In 1993, Greg went into sales and flourished. For two decades, he grossed millions of dollars of sales annually as a branch manager for rental pump companies. Greg was experiencing similar sales success at Global Pumps in 2017, when he and Pat planned to open Wisdom Pumps.

“I get the phone calls anyway; the good, the bad and the ugly,” Greg said. “I just figured if I could help someone else, I could do it myself.” Greg and Pat filed the business paperwork on May 26, 2017, and opened doors in September of 2017. When the doors first opened, the two founders Greg and Pat were the only two employees.

In two years, Wisdom Pumps has ballooned to eight employees with four employees in the field and four in the office. Greg and Pat had their legacy in mind when they opened Wisdom Pumps, and their daughter and twin sons have all been employed by the company in various capacities.

After 30 years in the pump rental industry, Pat still has his passion and drive. “I like what I do,” Greg said. “Every job is different, though to some people it might appear the same. It’s a challenge every day.”
